I wanted to create a print more suitable for interiors, meaning it would need to have a much larger repeat. I am always attracted to flower prints in textiles but very rarely give them a go myself. So here it is my attempt and at a large poppy print inspired by a girl's fascination with her mother's apron that was never taken off.

This print is based on an evacuee memory of the jumpers that were knitted for evacuees in knitting circles in the villages to make sure the new children kept warm. I initially scanned in various knitted jumpers and then drew from the knit, before printing on natural fabric.

Ok, so haven't blogged in a while. Have been busy with a new brief entitled 'The Children's war', so have been working on designs inspired by evacuee letters. Currently working on the idea of itchy jumpers and rough bedding, so lots of printing as well as knitting!
The reindeer head! i want to eventually develop this into a more interesting print, i have always loved this symbolic Scandinavian image.. and it's not just for Christmas!
Owls are a common reoccurring theme in folklore design, i wanted to use simple sketches to translate in fabric, with particular emphasis on the hand drawn look.
Haven't posted for a while as i have been busy with the new brief. I wanted to work with Scandinavian design; simple, bold with folklore influence. 'Fennofolk' is a new trend that describes modern Scandinavian design, '... slavic melancholy and long winter nights.' I have also used children's nursery rhymes as inspiration.
